Temporary “Break in the Action”

Obviously, this morning’s post isn’t a continuation of our God’s Wilderness, Works, and Wonders series that we began last week (4/18/2026).  Instead, we’re inserting a brief “break in the action” as some sports commentators might like to call it. Over the next couple of weeks, the routine of trying to maintain our normal schedule of writing will be a bit more challenging to handle. Let me explain what’s occurring, and I think you’ll understand . . .

As you read this, my wife and I will be thousands of miles away, beginning an adventure we’ve dreamed about since our travels to Israel. We’ve been blessed with an incredible opportunity to join this year with our favorite Biblical and cultural scholar and a number of personal friends to visit several key New Testament cities and sites. We’ll be privileged to gain some first-hand exposure to the kinds of trials and triumphs that Jesus’ followers experienced as they carried the Gospel beyond Jerusalem and brought His Kingdom to life in the very heart of the Roman Empire.

Although this dive into the depths of the Book of Acts is a blessing beyond expression for us, it presented some issues related to our writing. As our departure date grew closer, it became clear that a change in plans for the blog would be necessary. While the demanding schedule that this adventure entails would have made getting our articles out on time challenging enough, we also learned that we’ll be “off the grid” much of the time and unable to connect with the digital resources needed for posting new articles … meaning that inserting a break was the only reasonable option.

So, in lieu of the time you might have invested in reading what would ordinarily be the next regularly scheduled post from us, we have a request . . . We hope you might consider knitting your hearts together with ours and praying for us as we stand in the actual places where Paul, Barnabus, Silas, and Timothy ministered — and ponder the amazing things God did with and through them. Please pray for safety as we travel, of course, but especially pray that the same Spirit that empowered these men of God will manifest Himself in each of us. May God give us all a fresh realization that the One who brought life out of death and changed the world more than 2,000 years ago still makes Himself known and lives in us here and now. The One who turned the Roman empire down and turned the world right side up back then lives in us today – and all He needs to bring evil empires down now is us.

Thanks to each of you for your patience, prayers, and fellowship in Christ as we invade the darkness together. Lord willing, we’ll be back on line with you again on Saturday morning, May 9th.
